Dr Richard Gardner, managing director

Hello and welcome, my name is Rich and I am the MD for HVUK Ltd. My background is firmly rooted in academia, having first studied and then worked at The University of Manchester since 2001. I studied mechanical engineering before embarking on an Engineering Doctorate studying the behaviour of MRI scanners subjected to floor borne vibration. This experience in testing led to my roles as a research associate studying high voltage (relatively) systems in aircraft before becoming an experimental officer expanding into research into all areas of power system testing.

I came to meet HIGHVOLT through my role as manager of the high voltage lab at The University of Manchester (a role that I still hold). When refurbishing our lab we tendered for an AC and DC test system and HIGHVOLT were the clear winners and thus supplied us with both test systems in 2018. Due to my experience with HIGHVOLT as a customer and a user of their equipment I was ecstatic to be offered the opportunity to become their UK representative from 2019.
